Islamic Information Center Private Scholars Reception

The Islamic Information Center hosted a Private Scholars Reception on Tuesday October 13, 2009 in honor of a visit by Ayatollah Husain Hakim, who was visiting from the Holy Seminaries of Najaf, where he plays an important role in managing the Islamic Seminary or hawzah.

In early 2007, the Islamic Information Center relocated its main headquarters to the National Press Club building in Washington D.C.  The National Press Club is an international news media hub, home to hundreds of media organizations from around the world, and regularly hosts world leaders and various elected officials from around the nation.  By positioning an office in this location, the Islamic Information Center is uniquely suited to disseminate important Islamic information throughout the world in a professional and instantaneous manner.

 
(Washington D.C. - October 18, 2009) The Islamic Information Center hosted a Private Scholars Reception on Tuesday October 13, 2009 in honor of a visit by Ayatollah Husain Hakim, who was visiting from the Holy Seminaries of Najaf, where he plays an important role in managing the Islamic Seminary or hawzah.

The meeting was attended by the Sayyid Muhammad Baqir Kashimiri, Director of IMAM, and Board Advisor to the Islamic Information Center; Syed Haider Bahar Al Aloom, IMAM; Rahat Husain, Executive Director of the Islamic Information Center; and Imam Syed Naqvi, Chairman of the Islamic Information Center. In attendance were other various members of the Washington DC Area Muslim community.

Ayatollah Husain Hakim is the grandson of Grand Ayatollah Muhsin Hakim, of the middle 20th Century, the nephew of Ayatollah Baqir Hakim, and closely related to Grand Ayatollah Saeed Hakim, who is a close contemporary to Grand Ayatollah Sistani.

Ayatollah Husain Hakim spoke of the need for Muslims to visit the city of Najaf, Iraq and view the holy shrines of Imam Ali, successor to Prophet Muhammad, and personally observe the situation of the Iraqis. The Ayatollah also stressed the importance of young individuals becoming involved in Islamic efforts.
