IIC attends 2nd Annual Capitol Hill Ramadan Iftar E-mail

Islamic Information Center attended the 2nd Annual Capitol Hill Ramadan Iftar hosted by Congressman Keith Ellison and the Congressional Muslim Staffer Association. The event was held at the Rayburn House Office Building on Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Over 300 attendees were present. IIC was honored to attend such an auspicious event, which represents the ability and desire of the U.S. Government to understand Islam.

Eid Banquet Dinner E-mail

The Islamic Information Center hosted its First Annual Eid Banquet Dinner at the Idara-e-Jaferia on Saturday November 10th.  The keynote speaker for the banquet was Dr. Vernon Schubel from Kenyon College in Ohio, who addressed "What the West Needs from Islam: The Message of the Ahlul Bayt".  The banquet program also included a review of FY 2007, a very successful year for the Islamic Information Center.  The program included fundraising to cover IIC's annual expenses, wherein a portion of the proceeds were donated to the Idara-e-Jaferia.

IIC Opens New Chapter E-mail

The Islamic Information Center will be holding an event at the Jafaria Islamic Society in Los Angeles, CA. Speakers will include Dr. Liyakat Takim, an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Denver, and Imam Syed Naqvi, director of the Islamic Information Center.

Annual Interfaith Iftar E-mail

The Islamic Information Center held its 4th annual Interfaith Iftaar with great results. The program had a variety of speakers (from left to right Dr. Pervaiz Shah, Ed Stern, Imam Syed Naqvi, Reverend Graylan Scott Hagler, and Pastor Matthew Dyer) who spoke on the need for Interfaith dialogue and communication.Quite a few members of Maryland, Virginia, and DC synagogues, churches, and mosques attended the event. After the guests were welcomed, the program began with the Iftaar (the ceremony for breaking the fast) and dinner.
