August 10, 2007 The Islamic Information Center denounces and calls for a public apology from Congressman Tom Tancredo(R) of Colorado. Congressman Tancredo is a Presidential Candidate, and recently suggested that the US should bomb the Holy Cities of Makkah and Medina in Saudi Arabia. The IIC calls upon all Muslims and people of all other faiths and belief systems to come together to respond to Tancredo's outrageous statements. Along with urging America to reject "the siren song of multiculturalism," Tancredo depicts Islam as "a civilization bent on destroying ours." The Islamic Information Center rejects these depictions, and condemns all forms of hate speech. Imam Syed Rafiq Naqvi the Chairman of the IIC calls upon citizens of the United States to gather and express their disagreement of these acts. However, at the same time he expects that everyone should carry out his/her actions by every peaceful, diplomatic, and civilized means available. |
