| Shia Council to hold largest ever Meeting for Scholars |

(WASHINGTON DC) The Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America will be holding their annual conference in Baltimore, MD on the weekend of October 31st, 2008. This conference will mark the largest ever gathering of Shi'ite scholars in North America, as more than 100 scholars, or 'Ulema', will be in attendance. The attendees hail from a multitude of countries throughout the world and will meet in Baltimore to discuss various issues of importance to Muslims as a whole, and the Shia Muslim community in particular. The world's most eminent Grand Ayatollahs, or 'Maraja', will be sending representatives to this meeting in an unprecedented level of coordination. In addition to the scholars, several dozen leaders of Shia Mosques and communities will be in attendance and will utilize the meeting as an opportunity to coordinate national efforts amongst themselves and with the scholars.
