The Islamic Information Center is proud to announce that one of its Board of Advisors, Dr. Hassan Abbas, will be speaking on Capitol Hill this coming Monday. The event is sponsored by the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association and is a part of their Public & International Affairs Briefing Series, and is open to the public for free of charge!

The Islamic Information Center strongly condemns the actions of the Saudi Arabian government to further limit religious freedoms within the country by cordoning off gravesites of Prophet Muhammad's grandchildren in the Holy Jannatul Baqi cemetery.  The Saudi government has erected unnecessary visual barriers around the gravesites of several generations of the Prophet's grandchildren, most specifically Imam Hasan ibn Ali, Imam Ali ibn Husain, Imam Muhammad Baqir ibn Ali, and Imam Jafer Sadiq ibn Muhammad.  The visual barriers are in addition to the already unnecessary physical barriers used to separate pilgrims from the gravesites.

The Islamic Information Center is proud to announce the establishment of a free Immigration Clinic to serve the community's needs. The IIC Immigration Clinic is available to community members in need of immigration assistance.  The clinic will be supported by cooperating attorneys who specialize in immigration and have offered their services on a pro-bono basis.  Assisting the attorneys will be IIC staff members, interns, and legal volunteers.

The Islamic Information Center is proud to announce its first annual three day convention, entitled the American Leadership Initiative for Muslims (ALIM) to take place from July 17th - July 19th, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, Washington DC.
