The Islamic Information Center is proud to announce that a member of the IIC Board of Advisors, Dr. Hassan Abbas, recently interviewed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Dr. Hassan Abbas is an Affiliate with the Belfer Center and a former joint research fellow with Project on Managing the Atom and the International Security Program from 2005-2009. Hassan joined Columbia University's South Asia Institute as Quaid-i-Azam Chair Professor in January 2010.

The Islamic Information Center's NY and NJ Chapter is proud to announce it's first apter event to at Al-Khoei Center in New York! This event will feature a discussion on Islam's viewpoints regarding death and dying, and an explanation of how Islamic burials take place. Attendees will learn about both practical and spiritual matters in this grassroots event.

The Islamic Information Center is proud to announce, that as a result of the American Leadership Initiative for Muslims that took place on the July 17th, 2009 weekend, IIC will be opening a new chapter in Saint Louis, Missouri with a Interfaith Fundraising Dinner for Haiti.

The Islamic Information Center strongly condemns the series of attacks against Shia Muslims around the world that have occurred on the Holy Event of Arbaeen, the 40 day commemoration of Ashura. To learn more about Ashura, click here. Suicide bombers are targeting Shia worshippers today in Iraq and Pakistan -- much like they did 40 days ago, on the Holy Day of Ashura. More than 25 people were killed by two car bombs in Karbala -- one of the most important cities in Islam, where millions of people are gathered this week for Arbaeen, the 40 day commemoration of Ashura. The bombs targeted a group of worshippers as they were leaving the city.
