In early 2007, the Islamic Information Center relocated its main headquarters to the National Press Club building in Washington D.C.  The National Press Club is an international news media hub, home to hundreds of media organizations from around the world, and regularly hosts world leaders and various elected officials from around the nation.  By positioning an office in this location, the Islamic Information Center is uniquely suited to disseminate important Islamic information throughout the world in a professional and instantaneous manner.

 
(WASHINGTON DC - February 2, 2009) The Islamic Information Center will be hosting a seminar on the Crisis in Gaza, this Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at the George Washington University. This will be a continuation of IIC's University Seminar Series and will discuss the tragic crisis in Gaza from various perspectives.

The event will start at 12:00 pm at the George Washington University's Marvin Center, in Room 404. The address to the Marvin Center is 800 21st Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20052. This is no cost for attendance, and the program is open to the general public. Free refreshments will also be provided.

Islamic Information Center

The speakers will include Zahir Janmohamed, Yousef Mannayyer, and Rahat Husain.

Zahir Janmohamed is Advocacy Director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at Amnesty International USA. Mr. Janmohamed works with Amnesty International's membership to develop grassroots campaigns and manages the organization's media work on MENA issues. Prior to Amnesty International, Mr. Janmohamed worked for a State Department grantee called the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy, which focuses on democratization efforts in countries with Muslim majorities.

Yousef Munayyer is a Policy Analyst for ADC. Munayyer interned in the National Office in the Communications Department in 2005 after receiving his BA in Political Science and History from the University of Massachusetts (UMass). At UMass, he focused on Palestine and the Middle East and wrote extensively for the Massachusetts Daily Collegian and various other collegiate papers nationwide.

Rahat Husain is the Executive Director for the Islamic Information Center. The Islamic Information Center (IIC) is a non-profit organization that was established in the year 2002 to advance the image of Islam in the United States, by a group of concerned professionals from all walks of American life, under the leadership of eminent Scholar and Imam of Jaferia Islamic Center, Imam Syed Naqvi.
 
The IIC provides accurate information about the Islamic faith and Muslim community to government offices, media outlets, and civic organizations. Through educational and interfaith programs, The IIC promotes understanding, community, and trust among people of all faiths and cultures.
