IIC Condemns Terrorist Attack in India E-mail
August 27, 2007

The Islamic Information Center condemns the terrorist attack that occurred this past weekend in Hyderabad, India. The killing of innocent civilians is an attack on humanity and must be vehemently deplored, and IIC extends its condolences to the families and friends of those affected by the tragedy.

On Saturday, August 25, 2007, two bombs were set off in the city of Hyderabad, leaving over 60 people wounded and 41 dead. Explosives were found in 16 other locations surrounding the city. Because the bombs exploded at approximately the same time, in different parts of the city, this has led officials to label them as coordinated acts of terrorism. Authorities suspect external forces are responsible, although specific names of individuals or groups have not been revealed. The city of Hyderabad only recently suffered from violence last May when a bomb
exploded in Mecca Masjid.

IIC works to correct any misinformation about matters relating to the religion of Islam. Under the guidance of Imam Syed Naqvi, IIC also works to bring understanding and trust among people of all faiths and cultures in an attempt to build bridges, peace, and prevent misunderstanding through education and tolerance.
