IIC Condemns Taking of Hostages E-mail
August 10, 2007

The Islamic Information Center (IIC) would like to express their condolences to the families of the victims in the Taliban kidnapping of twenty one South Koreans last month. The threat from these extremists to kill hostages is a source of great alarm to IIC, as well as all Muslims throughout the nation, and around the world. The demands made by the Taliban are an affront of humanity and especially to Islam. IIC has been paying special attention to the conflict, and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism.

The act of taking innocent civilians as hostages is not condoned by Islam, nor is it condoned by any other religion, and IIC stresses the prompt and safe return of these individuals to their home country.

This week marks the Islamic date, in history, when the Holy Prophet Muhammad began publicly propagating the message of Islam, and we would like to take this moment to pray for the safe return of all of the hostages to their family and loved ones immediately. Imam Naqvi will be holding special prayers at this Friday congregation at Jaferia Islamic Center (Idara-e-Jaferia) in Burtonsville, Maryland.
