Last night, Democratic Nominee, Barack Hussein Obama, won the Presidency of the United States. Elsewhere, there were a variety of elections for the Senate, Congress, and various other offices. Most notably, Congressman Andre Carson succeeded in his re-election bid and continues to serve as one of the two Muslims in the United States Congress.

It is important that Muslims in the United States remember the importance of political involvement, and remain resolute in advancing the image of Islam, showing the world the positive attributes of Muslims through honorable actions, and resolving misconceptions about the religion of Islam.

Even as this country has elected a President whose middle name is "Hussein", very few Americans have any idea as to the origin of that name, why it is important, or what it even means.

Accordingly, it is incumbent for Muslims to explain the religion of Islam, and its key figures, to others. To accomplish this purpose, the Islamic Information Center advocates use of the IIC Imam Husain Information Packet, and our other information packets as listed below.



It is the belief of the Islamic Information Center that for Muslims to succeed in helping to create a better society, political engagement is vital. Voting in elections is a necessary step, however, it is only the first part of the political process.

True political engagement includes continual involvement, by communication with Congressional Representatives, Senators, and even State leaders. Let elected officials know that Muslims are concerned about the future of this country and the rest of the world, and tell them that you want peace and prosperity for ALL. Take every opportunity to contribute to a better future for all Muslims, and for all peoples of this world.

With such efforts, many avenues of opportunity become possible. American Muslims, as a whole are the richest, most powerful Muslims in the world, and are thus in a unique position to help the world's oppressed.
