IIC Condemns Terrorist Attack on Prominent Shi'a Scholar in Pakistan E-mail

The Islamic Information Center strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Karachi, Pakistan which took the life of prominent Shi’a scholar Allama Hasan Turabi. This is not only an act of terrorism in Karachi, but an act against humanity. The bombing took place on Friday and was a premeditated target killing. Allama Hasan Turabi had been able to escape prior attempts on his life.

We strongly urge the government of Pakistan to increase security for prominent scholars as they have been the targets of countless terrorists attacks. Terrorism against innocent people is explicitly rejected and has no basis in Islamic doctrine. Terrorists who commit such heinous acts are seen as deplorable individuals.

The Islamic Information Center (IIC) under the guidance of Imam Syed Naqvi works to bring understanding among people of all faiths and background in an attempt to build bridges for the future to prevent hate crimes through education and tolerance. IIC also works to correct any misinformation about matters relating to the holy religion of Islam. Our prayers are with the family and friends of Allama Hasan Turabi and the people morning this great loss.
