August 17, 2007 The Islamic Information Center (IIC) would like to express their condolences to the families of the victims in the Al-Qaeda suicide bombings in Northern Iraq on Tuesday. The bombing, aimed at a minority group of Kurds killed a total of around 500 innocent victims. Al-Qaeda accuses the Yazidi minority of being infidels and attempts to drive these people out of Iraq . The Yazidis have previously been targeted in suicide bombings by Al-Qaeda as well but never so many as this. Islam places inherent value in each human life, as life is seen to be endowed to us by our Creator. Such acts of sporadic, unjustified violence against innocent civilians are unconditionally rejected by Islam and have no basis in authentic Islamic doctrine. It is the hope of the Islamic Information Center that people of all faiths in Iraq can live together in peace and harmony one day. It is also our hope that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice by the Iraqi government. IIC has been paying special attention to the conflict, and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism. The act of taking innocent civilians is not excusable by Islam, nor is it supported by any other religion, and the Islamic Information Center stresses the importance of each individual's inalienable human rights. IIC asks for all recipients of this InfoAlert to take this moment to pray for the families of the victims and those who were injured. |
