IIC Condemns Attack on Holy Site in Samarra E-mail

The Islamic Information Center expresses its grave indignation and condemns, with the strongest possible terms, today's brutal and savage attack on the holy mosque in Samarra, Iraq, which holds the revered shrines of Imam Ali Al-Hadi and Imam Hasan Al-Askari, both being direct Holy progenies of the Holy Prophet of Islam (Peace be upon them).

The IIC is of the view that this barbaric and terrorist attack is another futile attempt to cause a civil war in Iraq. This sacrilegious and cruel attack can never be perpetrated by anyone who is a Muslim or a believer in the Almighty God, or even someone with the slightest moral or human concern; this is because the Holy Prophet and his Holy progeny have been advocates of peace, justice and human values.

This is a matter of great concern to all the peace loving individuals around the world as it is causing insecurity in Iraq and more problems for its broad-based legal government. Moreover, the claim of Coalition Forces to guarantee security of the holy sites is becoming more questionable and ambiguous.

Imam Syed Rafiq Naqvi the Chairman of the IIC calls upon the people of Iraq and the world at large to remain calm and not to be swayed by emotions. However at the same time he expects that everyone should express condemnation of this criminal act and protest by every peaceful and civilized means available.
