    As two of the largest religions in the world, Christianity and Islam are at the forefront of many events occurring around the world.  Collectively, According to estimates in Encyclopedia Britannica, Muslims and Christians collectively make up 55% of the world’s population.  This is a major reason why it is essential for Muslims and Christians around the world to better understand and be aware of each others beliefs and practices.  The best way for this to happen is to find out what the two religions have in common with each other, rather than concentrating on the differences.

Imam Syed Naqvi to Deliver Friday Prayers at the Capitol E-mail

This Friday, May 16, 2008 the IIC Chairman, Imam Syed Naqvi, will be delivering Friday prayers at the United States Capitol. Muslims are enjoined to perform prayer or "salaat" 5 times each day, however Friday is marked as a special day of prayer and the Friday "Salaat" is accompanied by two consecutive sermons. This event is open to all interested individuals.

IIC Condemns Remarks by Reverend Parsley E-mail

Recently the Reverend Rod Parsley, who is a televangelist and pastor of the over 5000 seat World Harvest Church, located in Columbus, Ohio and key McCain ally in Ohio has called for eradicating the "false religion" of Islam. Reverend Parsley sees no distinction between extremists and the the majority of Muslims, who are peaceful and friendly followers of Islam.  Senator McCain has actively been seeking his endorsement and called Parsley "a spiritual guide". The Reverend Rod Parsley has also actively called for Christians to wage war against Muslims. Reverend Parsley has been confronted about his statements and has publicly defended his opinions.

Info Alert: IIC Condemns Kidnapping and Death of Catholic Archbishop in Iraq E-mail

Washington D.C.– The Islamic Information Center condemns the death of Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho, who was kidnapped by gunmen in Iraq last month, as he drove home after delivering religious services. His body was discovered this week. Such an act is an atrocity against humanity, and cannot be excused by any reason.

Islam teaches that members of different faiths should live together in peaceful harmony, treating each other with respect and trust. This message is especially important to remember during these troubled times in Iraq. The IIC asks...
