(Washington, DC -- MARCH 21, 2010) IIC joined religious organizations spanning the faith and ideological spectrum in an interfaith service on the National Mall on Sunday, March 21. Chairman Imam Naqvi delivered a compelling sermon and communications director Hajar Hosseini offered the “Gathering Prayer” for peoples from all directions as thousands of people of faith from across the country congregated in Washington, DC, for a powerful demonstration of their unified support for just, humane immigration reform that keeps families together. The faith community was joined by tens of thousands of people from civil rights, immigrant, family and labor groups for the March for America: Change Takes Courage and Faith. With the March For America, faith communities across the country are standing up for families and creating the moral urgency political leaders need to address this pressing issue.
Since 2002, the Islamic Information Center (IIC) has been making waves throughout the country. The center was founded to project a positive image of Islam on three main platforms in order to change perceptions and build bridges. This can be accomplished by establishing interfaith connections; portraying a positive and accurate image of Islam in the print, radio, television, and Internet news media; and providing elected officials and government agencies with an authentic representation of Islam based upon the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and His Holy Progeny (Ahlul Bayt) - May God Bless Them All.
