October 6, 2009 The Olympics were created twice. Once by the ancient greeks, in an attempt to worship the Greek gods on Olympus with competitions of physical sport, and again in the 20th century in an effort to unite the world. Over time however, the Olympics have become a hotly contested battle for revenue for particular cities in various countries. This is most evident in the recent votes on where the 2016 Olympics would take place. There were many frontrunners, and none more hotly contested than Chicago, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and a few other cities in Europe and Asia.

October 6, 2009 Immigration reform? It’s about time. Immigrants, who are currently being held in detention centers across the country, may be moved to converted hotels and nursing homes, as part of the Obama administration’s plan to change the way the government holds people it seeks to deport. DHS Secretary, Janet Napolitano, stated that the initiative is in response to improving the current detention system, which is a result of the harsh policies set forth by the Bush administration.

September 30, 2009 Unless you’ve been hospitalized for the past 6 months or so, you must be aware of the healthcare reform debate going on in congress and around the nation. The “greatest country in the world” can’t seem to decide whether to insure everyone or not. The most significant news comes from the Senate floor where the public option amendments were shot down by the Senate Finance Committee. This is as good a time as any for us all to take a step back and see what is best for this nation.

For the past 7 years, IIC's Main Office has been conduction an Annual Interfaith ftar Dinner in the Washington DC area. Throughout the years, hundreds of churches, synagogues, temples, and other religious and social organizations have been invited to attend these Iftar Dinners with great success.
