Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, resigned following months of corruption rumors. He is said to have taken money for personal use and covered up costs while serving as mayor of Jerusalem. Though his successor has yet to be chosen, Kadima party leader Tzipi Livni will most likely replace him. It is not clear how she will approach the issue of Palestine as prime minister; however she is opposed to the Bush administrations peace plan. To read more, please click here.
| Wahabbis Hack Shia Websites

A Wahabbi group based in U.A.E has taken credit for hacking into the world's most popular and heavily used Shia websites. Users have not been able to access information and technicians are working to fix the problem. Wahabbi groups have had to resort to blocking information about Shia Islam in order to reinforce their ideologies, and this is just another example of extremism. To read more, please click here.

The annual interfaith Ramadan event, Fastathon, was once again a success this year with significantly more people participating. Fastathon is a program that promotes interfaith understanding and dialogue and was started as a result of 9/11 in order to educated non-Muslims about Islam. A truck loaded with homemade bombs, exploded in front of the Islamabad Marriot killing 57 people so far. The attack is being called one of the largest in recent history and came following Asif Zardari's becoming president. Though authorities have not found those involved, they are sure that the attacks were orchestrated by members of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan. Among ongoing conflict and fighting between warring factions in the nation, Muslim scholars have asked that civilians be left out. Following several attacks on civilians, they have spoken out about separating the political fighting from everyday civilian life and respecting the rights of those not involved. The food crisis in Africa is worsening as food prices continue to rise and food stock continues to fall. According to the UN Humanitarian chief, this is a result of the exponential rise in international food prices as well as severe weather changes. The Kenyan government has been illegally deporting Muslims seeing refuge and asylum in that nation. The government claims that the people being deported have supposed ties to terrorist organizations, however nothing has been proven and there is no evidence to support this claim.
