Zamir Hassan founded Muslims Against Hunger in 2002 after being inspired by working in a soup kitchen. The organization's group of volunteers serves at soup kitchens in Long Island and New Jersey. They hope to expand to Suffolk Country and even sponsored a charity lunch last fall. The organization works under the third pillar of Islam, charity. Khurshid Bapu, a cell-phone shop owner, organized a blood donation in Ahmedabad, India for the victims of the serial terrorist blast.
