| | (WASHINGTON DC - September 7, 2009) The Islamic Information Center is proud to announce its newest initiative: The National Month for Interfaith. For the past 7 years, IIC's Main Office has been conduction an Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner in the Washington DC area. Throughout the years, hundreds of churches, synagogues, temples, and other religious and social organizations have been invited to attend these Iftar Dinners with great success With IIC's newest chapters in New York and Miami, IIC is hosting three nationwide events for the National Weekend of Interfaith Iftar starting on Friday September 18, 2009. The events will take place at the Jaferia Islamic Center, in Maryland; New York University in NYC; and Miami, FL.
There are many churches, synagogues, temples, and other places of worship that are very positive towards the idea of working with Muslims to foster peace and harmony. Contacting major religious groups and specific "Interfaith" organizations throughout the nation and maintaining positive relationships is an important part of IIC's work. After establishing warm ties between different religious groups, it is the goal of IIC to create an National Interfaith Network so that members of different faiths can work together towards common goals. An interfaith network might best be able to effect social changes in our society, by appealing to a wide base.
IIC will be sending out specific information about locations, times, and how you can join in on the events happening in the Washington DC, New York City, and Miami areas - but if you aren't in one of those areas, there is still a way you can participate.
